The annual LGBTQ+ Family Conference will have  a modern twist

Rainbow Families announced their Annual Family Conference will continue this year as a virtual program on August 8-9, 2020. The organization provides LGBTQ families and parents with education programs, support groups, empowerment and opportunities to connect.

Rainbow families logo“We are truly excited about this. Our conference had been scheduled to take place on the campus of the Washington National Cathedral on May 16,” said Executive Director Darren Vance. “For a moment we considered canceling outright, but as we listened to our community, we heard how they wanted this conference, perhaps now more than ever. And now, we can reach people nationwide with the virtual format”.

The two day conference offers over 25 workshops for all stages of life. The organization mentioned pathways to parenthood, race and diversity, guidance for parents, and financial and legal topics. All will be covered virtually online this year.

This year Ellen Kahn will receive the organization’s Hero of the Year award in recognition for years of supporting and fighting for the LGBTQ family community.

Rainbow Families said the virtual conference will provide a robust way for attendees to engage with businesses and service providers who work with the LGBTQ community.
