HRC Foundation report rates adoption services for LGBTQ inclusion
A Loving Choice Adoption Associates, a New Jersey private adoption agency is recognized in celebrating everyday change makers in child welfare. The report highlights more than 70 child welfare agencies across the country that partnered with the HRC Foundation’s All Children – All Families project. The project seeks to improve the services each agency may provide to the LGBTQ community, including prospective adoptive parents.
A Loving Choice Adoption Associates conducted an internal self-assessment, provided professional development to staff and implemented ACAF’s “Benchmarks of LGBTQ Inclusion. The practice changes within the agency featured three “Tiers of Recognition,” which celebrate the strides the organization made toward becoming fully LGBTQ welcoming and affirming.
“A Loving Choice Adoption Associates has always taken pride in providing a safe and welcoming environment for LGBTQ clients—both birth parents and adoptive parents,” said Christine Letizia, Executive Director of the agency. “To be recognized by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation for this work is truly an honor.
Protecting against anti-LGBTQ discrimination for otherwise qualified foster and adoptive parents is in the best interest of children—particularly those LGBTQ youth waiting in foster care for their forever homes.”
A Loving Choice Adoption Associates, a private non-profit adoption agency licensed by the NJ Department of Children and Families, is located in Shrewsbury, NJ. It was co-founded by Ms. Letizia and Cathleen McNee in 2003 to provide services to birth families and adoptive families.
