Anti-gay Trenton Councilwoman goes on F-word tirade against Mayor Reed Gusciora

On Saturday, during a COVID-19 briefing with the mayor, Councilwoman Robin Vaughn suggested that another council member was sucking Mayor Reed Gusciora’s “dick.” Later, she accused the mayor of being a “pedophile.” She even said he was a motherf*cker.”

Vaughn has a long history of being seen as a bigot due to her sometimes outrageous statements. Last September, she claimed that a fellow councilwoman’s use of an anti-semitic slur was equivalent to using a verb when discussing the words “Jew-down.”

Vaughn wrote on Facebook while responding to constituent concerns last September, “I believe her comment ‘Jew down’ was more [about] negotiating not ‘I hate Jews.’ Inappropriate in today’s PC culture absolutely, but to ‘Jew’ someone ‘down’ is a verb, and is not-anti-anything or indicative of hating Jewish people.”

At this weeks May 2 conference call, with the mayor and council, Vaughn was offering opposing views on how Trenton was paying organizations such as Trenton Health Team, a local nonprofit organization that she deemed unworthy of receiving payments during the COVID-19 pandemic. She referred to them as “do-nothing organizations.” Vaughn even went as far as calling her colleague, fellow Councilman, Joe Harrison’s mother a “whore,” when he disagreed with her views.

“There’s no need to parse words here: for her hateful anti-LGBTQ language and defending the anti-Semitic slurs of others, she must resign.” Christian Fuscarino, the Executive Director of the state’s largest gay rights advocacy group, Garden State Equality said of Vaughn.

The homophobic slur and whore comments were directed at East Ward Councilman Harrison after he had stood up for Mayor Gusciora during the call. This isn’t the first time that Vaughn opposed Gusciora on policy. Earlier this year, she pushed against Gusciora’s decision on how Trenton elects its Board of Education members. Within Trenton political pundit circles as to why Vaughn would continue the horrific verbal tirades there are rumours. Some believe that Vaughn is setting up a campaign to run for mayor in the next election and needs the publicity from any possible source for name recognition.

Vaughn alleges that Gusciora advocates on behalf of non-profit organizations instead of the citizens of Trenton. “What has Trenton Health Team done for Trenton for the past 15 years? You don’t even know who they are, Mayor,” she said while on the conference call.

Gusciora defended himself by calling Vaughn a “child” and an “idiot,” on the conference call. “We have an idiot on the phone,” he is quoted as saying in response.

Vaughn responded back by saying “you’re a drug addict and a pedophile… and that’s why you need to get out of the f*ck office, and get the f*ck out of Trenton. You’re a pedophile motherf*cker.”

When commenting on whether or not Vaughn should resign or to finish out her term in office, Gusciora said, “I think if she can’t deal as an adult with other city leaders, it’s time that she steps down.”
