Editor’s Letter
Things got off to a rocky start, people implored me to please give the president a chance. “He might surprise you,” they said. Well, I can honestly say, he didn’t surprise me at all. I knew who he was when he screamed to his audience “lock her up” about Hillary Clinton, and told them that Mexico was sending us their “rapists,” and that John McCain was “not a war hero. He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.” This coming from a person who had four deferments from the military.
I knew he was a sexist pig way before “Pussy-gate” when he said disparaging remarks about Carly Fiorina, who was also running in the primaries. “Look at that face! Would anyone vote for that? Can you imagine that — the face of our next president!?” Or of Megan Kelly, “You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever. In my opinion, she was off-base.” I’m pretty sure we know who was “off base” and it wasn’t Megan Kelly.
The list of distractions goes on and on, (Mika Brzezinski) but does it really need to? As of this writing there is a Russian scandal that involves the president and his family members, who thanks to him, have high security clearance. Until now, it’s been easy to put the blame on others, but now, it’s family.
I’m not going to tell you I understand why people voted for this guy, except to say they wanted “something different.” Well, mission accomplished, he’s certainly that! He may even be capable of slowing down time. It’s been six months, and it already feels like years. He said he “wanted to clean the swamp” of D.C., but this administration has done nothing of the sort, and continues to try to erode what makes America truly great, our Democracy, our freedom, and our diversity!
If you voted for this man, and honestly believe he will do “great things,” that he will change the way the government works for the good of the country, not just for himself, that “we win so much, we’ll get tired of winning, then you saw things my eyes, and ears just couldn’t see and hear.
If you feel like I do, please stay active, stay informed, and hold your elected officials accountable. The 2018 election season is around the corner, and the least we can do is vote, and make sure we do more than complain. RESIST!
