Playground massacre sparks fear in community under seige

On a hot August night, the last thing that Terrance, Iofemi and Dashon ever saw was the pock-marked green wall they were forced to kneel in front of before being shot.

The following Sunday, August 5th, while thousands of gays and lesbians of color converged on Jacob Riis beach for the People of Color in Crisis’ annual beach party (an event that I attended, and one the victims had been eagerly looking forward to), the fourth victim, Natasha Aeriel, clung to life as the sole survivor of the shooting that took the lives of her brother and their friends.
