Every once in a while, an artist hits the scene that you know will be changing the game; The Gossip frontwoman Beth Ditto, Jake Shears, lead singer of the Scissor Sisters and now Aiden Leslie. With a cool mix of R&B, infused with a healthy dose of dance-pop, Aiden is showing that he is a force to be reckoned with on the dance floors.

Aiden Leslie says, "Performing in Asbury Park for Jersey Pride was an incredible experience, as I had never been before."

Here, he talks to Entertainment Editor Cookie about his single burning up the LOGO airwaves, opening up for a diva on the road this year, and his new single “Trying To Leave Now”

Aiden, thanks for taking the time to speak with me. Like me, you’re a child of some legendary New York City places;  Palladium, Roxy, & Twilo. What do you miss the most about those times?

Those were my training grounds, where I became inspired; where I found myself; The clubs, the DJ’s, the nightlife, it was all amazing! Personally, I don’t miss it that much really. NYC was very different then everything changes, everything moves on. It was more about the music then I think, and now it seems to be less about that music; the club experience then was just so different, it  was much more of a community back then, there was something to do every night.

It can sometimes be hard for male vocalists in the world of dance music. How are you going to break through the proverbial “glass ceiling”?
I find that wall is put up a lot actually. Not alot of DJ’s and producers reach out to male vocalists, and there’s a place for us out there;  we deserve a spot on the dance floor! I hope to change some attitudes and get them to play guys music as well.

Your single “Worlds Away” is #1 for the 4th consecutive week on LOGO’s Click List! Congratulations!! How does it feel to be recognized by your community? It started at #4, then #3 and it was a great feeling; I was just happy to be in the top ten! When I hit #1, I was thrilled! The track spoke to the fans, and people took something from it.

You recently appeared at Jersey Pride in Asbury Park, opening for Kristine W! How was that experience? What did you think of our fair city of Asbury Park? Performing in Asbury Park for Jersey Pride was an incredible experience, as I had never been before. There is so much music history tied to Asbury, so it was amazing to be there and do my own music. And of course, opening up for the queen herself was icing on the cake for me!

Every artist has a “wish list” of artists to work with. Who is on your list? Lenny Kravitz definitely; he’s a cool artist and has great writing ability! Also Andy Bell from Erasure, and definitely Madonna, without a doubt! A huge inspiration!

    What’s next for Aiden Leslie?
The release of my new single “Trying To Leave Now,”  getting the remixes together and shooting a video also!
