Youth Support: Doing what needs to be done

On October 4th, Our Youth members, friends and supporters gathered together at 155 North Street, on the steps of Jersey City’s Saint John’s church, to celebrate the opening of the organization’s new and permanent home. Founded in February 2006 by Robert De Anthony, Our Youth has now 63 members on file, but some 20 to 30 individuals come through its doors each week. The non-profit, LGBTQ youth organization helps young people of all sexual denominations within the Tri-State area by offering them a safe haven where they can feel accepted and talk openly about their issues. What sets it apart from other similar organizations is that, Our Youth founder explains, it achieves making this safe haven possible while “let[ing] the kids do what they need to do.”
