VNA to hold focus groups to determine LGBT future health needs

The Prevention Resource Network is embarking on a new project, a healthcare setting that caters to the needs of the LGBT community. They are looking for the input of the larger community in the Asbury Park area.

“The health of the LGBT community is important to us, and we know it’s important to you,” the Board has stated in a press release announcing the focus groups. The focus group meetings are starting today, Wednesday, August 9th and running through the end of the month on August 30. Participants are asked to register online to join the groups.

At each of the four  focus groups they will be asking for information on participants experiences while accessing healthcare and the types of services each person would like to see offered. They will also be looking to tailor the hours of operation that would work best for the LGBT community as a whole — and individually.

The focus group will take place at Project REAL, 805 Fourth Ave, in Asbury Park and start promptly at 7:30 pm today, August 9th with “Lesbians and Bi women.”

Additional focus groups will be on:

  • August 16th “Transgender”
  • August 23rd Gay and Bi men over 30
  • August 30th LGBT Seniors

The Prevention Resource Network is a program of the Visiting Nurse Association Health Group. To register for the groups they ask that you rsvp at this link:
