“In the Cookie Jar” reviews.
This Spring, we “rolled in the deep” with Adele, and prayed at the altar of “Judas” with Gaga, but summer has arrived, and that means a whole crop of new tracks that will definitely be keeping us “dancing til the world ends” for the remainder of the summer.

She’s written for Mary J. Blige. David Guetta and Jennifer Lopez, and now Wynter Gordon is taking the reigns and putting herself front and center. Her track “Dirty Talk” was a dance floor smash this winter, and her new single “Til Death” is sounding like a quintessential summer song. The remix package is bit of a mixed bag, with some newer remixers along with a couple established names. The “Folenrockers Remix” gives a very hypnotic and electronic feel, definitely with a Junior Vasquez “Arena” vibe, almost making this mix dub-esque. The “Wawa Remix” is the most dance floor friendly, with a very peak-hour feel and breathy vocals from Ms. Gordon.
Last seen at the #1 spot for consecutive weeks on LOGO’s Click List with his track “Worlds Away”, rising pop star Aiden Leslie is back with his new track “Trying to Leave Now”, which has definite summer anthem potential. Leslie’s vocals lead up to a fantastic chorus which really shows that this guy can belt! Remixes are forthcoming, but from what I’m hearing, some of the names being mentioned are heavy hitters in the dance world. Considering a past track(a remix of Erasure’s “Love To Hate You”) was remixed by the legendary Junior Vasquez, the mixes for “Trying To Leave Now” should be interesting to say the least.

Frankmusik back with his latest dance-floor offering, “Do It In The A.M”. With a hand from Far East movement on this track, Frank and Far East keep the original album version very club ready, but when put in the hands of dancefloor god Dave Aude, the BPM is slightly raised, and the dance-ability of the track goes into the stratosphere! The “Frankmusik Crystal Palace Remix” is an 80’s tinged mix that while not totally dance floor ready, it’s creatively the most impressive.
The third single off of Britney Spears “Femme Fatale” album, “I Wanna Go” was first seen as the theme song of the ingenious “Summer by Bravo” advertising campaign, and has now hit the dance floors with a fantastic remix package. The “Joe Bermudez and Chico Mix” definitely keeps the electronic vibe of Britney’s shall we say “enhanced” vocals, with killer beats behind the chorus. “The Jump Smokers remix” tips their hat to the Peter Rauhofer mixes of yesteryear, drawing out the verses without giving up the chorus, which totally gives the track a different vibe. The “Martin & Souza” mix is classic club-banger, which with building beats that come into a perfect summer tea dance anthem. And after all, if it’s good enough for Andy Cohen, Rocco DSpirito, and various Real Housewives to jam to be jamming to at a summer BBQ, it’s definitely good enough for us!
