Summer is here for the boys of Jersey, and this summer we have an extra treat; the premiere of the fourth season of “The Real Housewives Of New Jersey. “For the first time, Bravo filmed the fourth season of this guilty pleasure while the third was still airing. Based on the explosive reunion of last season’s reunion (filmed at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, N.J.) the fallout from Teresa Giudice’s cookbook “Skinny Italian” (in which she insulted almost every other cast member) is expected to continue. And based on the first episode, it definitely does.
This season the Manzo’s, Wakile’s, Laurita’s and Gorga’s invade Ocean County, taking us to their shore houses in Toms River (among other South Jersey areas). The children may be building sand castles on the beach, but their parents (siblings Joe Gorga & Teresa Giudice) still can’t seem to build a bridge.
While the season starts by rehashing some of last season’s grievances, they no doubt will have more issues to iron out before season’s end. In the meantime, Joe’s wife Melissa continues her role as Teresa’s biggest competition in every way, down to the Louboutin’s on their feet, while trying to broker a peace between the families. Teresa and Joe’s cousin Kathy Wakile continues trying to support her family, while definitely sitting firmly on the side of Team Gorga (Teresa had been less than friendly to her during the third season).
On the Manzo side, mama Caroline is going through a couple “changes of life” in more ways than one, while sister in law Jacqueline continues to battle wild child daughter Ashlee (look for a shocking turn in this plotline during the season premiere). Jacqueline will have a major evolution this season, especially concerning her friendship with Teresa.
Teresa Giudice is clearly playing the “Danielle Staub” role this season (the villianess of Seasons 1 and 2). While Danielle was evil personified, Teresa clearly does not understand why her fellow castmembers have gripes with her. Look for appearances this season by original Housewife Dina Manzo, “friend to the Housewives” Kim D, and of course, plenty of family feuding and (from what it looks) an epic Caroline vs. Teresa battle.
Major cast changes are becoming a hallmark of the “Housewives” franchise, so keep your eyes on the ladies this season and start taking bets on who will be returning for Season 5!
