Harrah’s Resort in Atlantic City hosts The Housewives of NY and NJ
The Real Housewives have paid several visits to Atlantic City in the past. But this past weekend at Harrah’s Resort, Real Housewives of New York co-star Sonya Morgan, Real Housewives of New Jersey co-stars Teresa Giudice, and Margaret Josephs, brought “An Evening With The Celebrity Housewives” Tour to the casino-hotel.
With The Real Housewives of New Jersey poised to premiere and The Real Housewives of New York currently filming, the fans were anxious to hear from their favorites. The crowd was completely engaged from the moment the ladies hit the stage.
We have heard that the women we see on television are exactly who they are in real life, and all arrows point to that being so based on this evening spent with the ladies. Teresa Giudice was subdued, yet forthcoming, about her children and about the troubles she’s facing personally. Margaret Josephs was very open about her thriving business, the Macbeth Collection as well as her issues with now rival, Danielle Staub. Sonja Morgan continued to be “the straw that stirs the drink” and kept the ladies and the audience laughing with her outrageous stories about filming the show and her colorful life pre-reality stardom.
And yes, the ladies did dish! The trailer for The Real Housewives of New Jersey was released this past weekend and between hair pulling and drink tossing, the show looks action-packed and emotionally charged. Margaret let us know that she recently had another face lift (via co-star Dolores Catania’s doctor). She also revealed that she has a 23 year old son that we have never seen on the show. Teresa disclosed that following her release from prison, she was asked to do Dancing With The Stars. She declined, as she needed to spend time with her family. She now thinks that “they’re unhappy with me.” She also revealed that she has been asked to do Big Brother, both the American and UK versions. Based on the fan reaction they are anxious for her to take part in it . She said that being away from her four daughters for that long would be extremely difficult.
Sonja was a bit cagey about what she could actually speak about, as filming is currently happening. She did indicate that with the New York franchise, they always bring on cast members that have a natural relationship with some of the other women. She said it is never forced. “When you meet the new girl,” she said, “you will know that she knows other people on the cast.” When asked what former Housewife she would bring back to the show, Sonja was clear—Aviva Drescher. Their mutual relationship with Aviva’s ex-husband Harry Dubin, and he and Aviva’s son Harrison, are a commonality. And Aviva throwing her prosthetic leg across the Le Cirque dining room was “reality TV gold!”
Sonja said she is releasing a “Sonja Sangria” (after briefly mentioning the TipsyGirl product line that was a plot point on the show). When asked about other cast members, she spoke warmly about Dorinda Medley, was tongue-in-cheek about Luann de Lesseps and her cabaret performances, and with Tinsley Mortimer, she simply called her “TinsMe.” Could we be seeing these two butting heads again when the next season premieres?
One thing that was clear between the three throughout their appearance is the respect and “sisterhood” between them. Margaret and Teresa spoke warmly about each other and the friendship they share on and off-screen, and how they simply just clicked from the beginning. Sonja indicated that while they all bicker on screen, they truly try to support each other when cameras are not rolling.
Following their appearance, they dined together at McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood at Harrah’s with friends. Prior to this appearance, the three were joined by The Real Housewives of Potomac star Ashley Darby in Maryland at another appearance.
All three are from various cities of this franchise. They spoke about the drama in their own city, while developing true relationships with women not on their own show. It showcases that while there may be stark differences between the women on-screen, it’s the relationships underneath the fighting that truly keep the fans tuning in.
