Cory Booker Addresses Newark’s Gay Problem

The phone lines were open when Cory Booker sat down for an interview with WBGO’s David Cruz. “One of the best things about the show,” said the host of Jazz 88’s Newark Today, “is that we take calls from listeners who finally have access to one-on-one conversations with the Newark mayor.”

It’s nothing new. The dapper mayor frequently discusses various issues on air with Cruz. But on this particular day, together with Newark’s openly gay Councilwoman, Dana Rone, and June Dowell-Burton co-chair of Newark Essex Pride Coalition, they attempted to clarify the murky issue of homophobic violence in Brick City.
