Tackling gay rights in her latest tale, “Sing You Home”, Jodi Picoult takes on the sensitive issues her fans have come to expect. A book so full of reality it is often difficult to remember it is fiction. Told from three perspectives, it is easy to find some of yourself in each of the characters. Motivated by the love for her own gay son and the belief that gay rights are the last of the civil rights to be granted, her novel brings to light the devastating realities and injustices same sex partners face. Having to endure court trials, religious protesters, media frenzies and potential career loss in an attempt to start a family is not only the reality for the main characters of the story, but gay couples nationwide.
