Sin MoreraWith residencies up and down the East Coast, remix projects coming fast and furious, and even an appearance at this year’s world renowned Life Ball in Vienna, Sin Morera is taking the music world by storm! Here, he talks to Entertainment Editor Cookie about his return to the music world, his new music with some pretty heavy-hitters in the industry, and his personal message to his fans!

Sin, you have so much going on! Glad you could take a few minutes to talk to me. You are heading to the Winter Music Conference in the next few days. Tell me about what you will be doing there.

Sin Morera

Sin Morera says Paradise in Asbury Park is the best Jersey place.

It’s been a little crazy, I’m heading down to the Winter Music Conference for meetings and work. I have a writing session where I’m writing a new song, this time in Spanish, so what better place then Miami? My writing partner has a big home on Star Island, I’ll be there on his boat writing in the sun! I’m so inspired these days, life is beautiful, things are just flowing! While in Miami, I’m DJ’ing 2 events, one are normal hours and the other after hours at Club Volume. I’ll also be promoting my new record label “Digital Era Music” which I will launch with full force in the Fall. Stay Tuned.

Right after that, you head to DC for the annual “Cherry” festivities in the beginning of April. What do you have planned for the boys of our nation’s capital?

I’ve been a veteran DJ for them for many years. The guys are amazing to work with, and it’s a great cause! A couple of my friends are HIV Positive, so when I play there, I play hard! I’m playing along with Stephen Grodin (Montreal). Lets rock it out Washington D.C!

In your recent press release you mentioned that you took a year off for some “personal reasons”. Care to elaborate?

I thought about this question and marveled in it for a bit; honestly, all I have to say is there’s no future in the past. Live and let live. Only you can change what’s wrong in your life. People complain about this and that, but do something about it; only you have the power to change it! Follow your dreams, travel the world, see another city, do something for someone else, life’s sunny and Mother Earth is beautiful!

What do you think drove you to the dark place that you were in?

We all make bad decisions. The one I made cost me everything.

What would you say to some of the younger boys out there who are thinking of getting involved with illegal substances?

I grew up in the streets of New Jersey and New York. I’ve seen it all, but when it’s time to leave the party, it’s time to leave the party; the problem is, some people don’t know when to leave. I want to say that I don’t do drugs. Don’t hurt the ones you love
.
Well, you are now back in the New Jersey/New York City area and we are thrilled! What amazing remixes do you have coming up?

I’m in the studio working with my partner Gonzilla,an amazing producer/programmer; we both worked on the Jennifer Lopez record for Def Jam, “On The Floor”. For me as a producer, I knew that a lot of people love Pitbull (who guest raps on the record), many people want too hear J-Lo alone. The label sent me the session, I took Pitbull out and did what I thought would work on the dance floor. My mix is definitely a little darker then most of the mixes out.I’m also excited to be working with Natalia Kills! on her track “Mirrors”. Interscope records asked me to do a mix and I love what we did, it’s hard, sexy and fun. She’s opening up for Robyn on tour and is gonna kick ass this summer. I’m also working on another original track,”Shattered Pieces” along with my good friend and brother Hiram Reve out on Sound Groove records and Beatport Finally, my first single is out this summer on my own label, called “Heart Beat”. It’s about a break up, she tells him he’s so tired and old, and dissing him after he chooses substance over her love. It will be out this summer. I have some great remixers on board; Midnight Society and Joe Mancuso. I’m doing a darker remix on it, among others. I love New Jersey and New York and it feels good to be back home.

You are legendary for very high energy turns behind the decks! Where are some of your favorite places to spin in New Jersey and the city?

March 19th Black Party Weekend I debut my work @ Club 57 in New York and after that, the boys will walk to Roseland to the Black Party. I love G Lounge!  I will never be too big of a DJ to spin G Lounge, is my little home, the staff and owners are great. In New Jersey, it’s Paradise in Asbury Park, Shep Pettibone is one of my mentors.

You’ve also done extensive work out of the country, being in Italy, Singapore, and even the world famous Life Ball in Vienna! What are the crowds like in other parts of the world?

I have to admit Italy is my home away from home, I’d love to live there.  I am in talks with Italy again, I didn’t spin there in 2010 but I am for sure this year.  Singapore will be April 30th, and I’m very excited, it will be my first time in Asia since 2001 when I spun in  Beijing, China and lived there for a year .Vienna Life Ball is a dream come true; performers this year include Lady Gaga, Alicia Keys and appearances by President Clinton Thierry Mugler, Donatella Versace . and Madonna! I had a meeting with the President of the Life Ball, he’s a Sin Morera fan, and loved my remix work, so now I’m going to spin at the event. There is a big plane leaving JFK in May for the event with a bunch of celebrities, cocktails and music, so I’m happy. I love traveling, it’s always been my dream; I’ve been blessed with doing what I love, writing, DJ’ing, singing, and I do this all for my grandmother….

What’s next for Sin Morera?
As Madonna said….. I WANNA RULE THE WORLD!

See you on the dance floor “Sin.”
