SHOW REVIEW – La Boheme at the Princeton Festival at McCarter

I have developed a serious problem in reviewing Richard Tang Yuk’s productions at the annual Princeton Festival – my superlatives are becoming repetitious. Each year I think “well, this is it – the peak – they can’t possibly get better,” and each year I’m proven wrong. This year’s production of the ever-popular sob story by Puccini, “La Boheme” is magnificent. I’d like to print that word in 20 point bold, but layout won’t let me.

As someone who has seen opera in New York, Paris, London and elsewhere, I will state categorically, you can find productions as good but you will not find better.
