Same-sex marriage in California has been put on hold indefinitely by a federal appeals court while it considers the constitutionality of the state’s gay marriage ban. The decision, handed down by a three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, overrides a lower court judge’s order that would have allowed marriage licensing to same-sex couples to start shortly thereafter.
