“There is nothin too good for my Atlantic City ladies,” says Carrie Bradshaw on “Sex and the City.”

HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire” has brought attention to old-time Atlantic City, and Resorts International is bringing good ol’ “A.C” into 2011! Entertainment Editor “Cookie” recently spent a weekend at Resorts, and saw exactly why the buzz is all about Atlantic City’s newest gay hotspot.

“Prince” was dancing, “Bette Midler” was camping it up at the bar, and “Cher” was chatting with us over cocktails on the balcony. No, this is not every gay man’s dream, it is the scene at Prohibition, the newest gay nightclub, located inside Resorts Casino in Atlantic City. NJ. The icons noted were cast members of the amazing show “Believe-Diva In A Man’s World”, and they certainly lived up to their celebrity look alike label by partying with the crowd, and of course, performing for the masses!

Many people will remember the days of gay nightlife in Atlantic City consisted of the (now-gone) Brass Rail and Studio Six. With both of those places long-since shuttered, Prohibition is a much needed breath of fresh air into the Atlantic City LGBT scene. Joel Ballesteros, the Director Of LGBT Marketing for Resorts (the first LGBT marketer at an Atlantic City casino) has helped make Prohibition the newest spot on the Jersey Shore for the boys & girls to check out.

Located on the 13th floor of the Ocean Tower, Prohibition will serve as a lounge during the day, then becoming a nightclub, open til 3 a.m (or thereabouts). The gorgeous banquettes (filled to capacity both nights) definitely give the club a VIP feel, and the dance floor centerpiece of the club has large potted palm trees located on the corners, definitely giving an intimate feel. DJ Zathan Radix (a previous “Cookie Jar” feature here at Out In Jersey magazine) holds court in the raised DJ booth, assisted by a large video screen directly next to the DJ booth, and playing to a constantly packed dance floor. Other video screens are located throughout the bar, so you are never without some kind of visual stimulation.

Speaking of visual stimulation, the gorgeous bartenders not only provide killer cocktails, but also hop up onto the bar & show off some spectacular (and sometimes shirtless) dance moves! Small moments like this definitely provide a true Atlantic City vibe!

For you smokers the french doors on the side of the club will take you to a fantastic balcony on which you can enjoy the gorgeous air & a cocktail, all while overlooking the Atlantic City scenery.

The crowd otherwise was definitely eclectic. There were some gorgeous young ladies that gave the club a very “celebutante” feel, but there were definitely more than enough boys around to keep your eyes busy. Some of them local, and a large number of them were boys from the North Jersey/NYC area who came down to AC to see what all the fuss was about; based on my discussions with some of them, they definitely will be coming back!

Resorts as a whole definitely has so much to offer. From the minute I gave my car to the valet, right down to the room service, it was first class service all the way. And you definitely must check out Blanche, the singing bartender, appearing every Tuesday through Saturday from 4-10pm at Resorts’ 25 Hours lounge.

A bartender that sings Lady Gaga’s “Pokerface” and can serve you a great cocktail? No where else to hear that but at Prohibition at Resorts in Atlantic City!
