Queer Rising’s Times Square Kiss-In action drew a crowd of several hundred on Friday evening, each intent on a getting a little action of his or her own. The “public display of affection” was intended to underscore the right of LGBT people to kiss or hold hands in public just as straight people do. A relaxed and party atmosphere prevailed as the usual throngs of tourists passed by, seemingly unfazed and accepting the same-sex show-off as just another of the Big Apple’s sights. As one Mid-western lady put it “we just don’t see this in Fort Worth. I love New York!”
