The holidays have passed, but the music gods continue to give us plenty of gifts while we hit the dance floors in 2011. While we all know there are new albums from Lady Gaga and Britney Spears just around the corner, this edition of “In The Cookie Jar” is going to be dedicated to those artists who are just hitting the airwaves, or whose names you may not know very well yet. Check out their websites, google them and read up on them, but definitely buy their music!

Emii is a brand-new artist out of Youngstown, Ohio who is very quickly making a splash on the dance scene. She takes her place next to such rocker/dance artists such as Pink and Katy Perry with the steamy track “Magic,” already in rotation on LOGO. Her latest track, “Mr. Romeo,” features the one and only Snoop Dog providing one of his signature raps. Snoop has worked with such heavy hitters as Katy Perry (“California Gurls”) and Robyn (“Sexual Eruption”), so Emii can consider herself in some pretty strong company. Emii’s sound can go from straight-up dance track (the aforementioned “Mr. Romeo”) to definitive rocker-chick (the kick-ass, angst filled “Zombie Ex-Boyfriend”). In terms of crossover rock to dance ladies, Emii is definitely a name that we will be speaking (and dancing to!) in 2011.

Sariah is another name that you will be hearing a lot more of in 2011 and beyond. Her music can best be described as urban street, hip-hop, dance, and of course, diva-soul! Is it any wonder that Sariah has been christened the “Queen Of Hearts”? Her debut single is titled “Deep N Luv,” which was in big rotation on the dance floors this past summer. The track was enhanced by a big old helping of remix gold from dance floor masters Tony Moran and Warren Rigg. Sariah’s next track is called “All About Sex,” which is exactly that! With a pulsing beat and a remix from Ray Roc and Gabe Ramos, Sariah definitely lets us know that there is a new Queen in town!
The next artist may be one you know, but she is just getting her footing on the dance floors (so to speak)! Adele was coined “the next Amy Winehouse” by the U.K. press several years ago, and she has lived up to the comparison and then some. Adele is best known for her soaring vocals, (her debut album “Hometown Glory” is simply spectacular) and her latest offering “Rolling In The Deep” has hit the streets. It’s packed with remixes from, among others, Dan Clare, who throws beats behind the track to make it dance floor ready, while also keeping Adele’s lush vocals front and center. The track is from the album “21” due for release on February 22, 2011.
