Standing in the shadow of New York City, New Jersey is often overlooked when it comes to matters of the fine arts. However, the first American sculpture, Patience Lovell Wright of Bordentown, born in 1725, and John Frazee, a sculptor whose work is in the United States Senate (born in Rahway in 1790) point to New Jersey’s early and continuous influence in the arts.
