Rick Springfield opening for Pat Benatar rocked the house at Revel on Saturday night, The concert was full of energy and excitement. Though I expected to see ladies in the age range of 40 and up, I was quite surprised when I looked around and saw every age and gender enjoying this incredibly energetic show. They were on their feet dancing.
Rick Springfield still has a six pack, and had no problem showing it off by removing his shirt and playing to the crowd. He is in great shape. His voice sounds as good as ever. Revel with it’s intimate setting was the perfect place to see the rock legends Pat Benatar, Neil Giraldo and Rick Springfield strut their stuff.
The seating at Ovation Hall assures there will not be a bad seat in the house. The roundness of the room lends itself to a full sound and great views from every angle. Dedicated to the art of sound, Ovation hall seats 5500, and is modern and intimate. From check in to check out, everyone we encountered was kind and eager to help when we needed a drink or directions. This made the already “over the top experience” that much more enjoyable. This is a great venue!
Pat Benatar was full of energy and didn’t stop rocking the house. Everyone, and I mean everyone, was on their feet dancing to her classics. She packs a lot of strength in that petite body, which is a powerhouse. Her vocals continue to be the best you’ve heard from this operatic rocker who has always been the voice that stands out, and it still delivers.
Neil Giraldo, her husband of 32 years, is a great compliment to this four time Grammy winning rocker. Rocking together for 35 years they played a tribute to each other which was touching, and intimate, a rare glimpse into their marriage when Pat touched Neil’s face, and dusted his jacket. The songs they have crafted are classics and hold up to today’s music. Neil rocks the guitar to her vocals, which are strong, and like a fine tuned musical instrument. Pat Benatar has only gotten better, if that is possible. If you have never seen her, don’t miss out on this legend. Opportunities like this don’t come around often, and when they do, you have to seize the moment.
