Move over Mary Kate and Ashley O. There is a new eating disorder sweeping the nation and its objective is to get big. “Bigorexia,” or professionally speaking “dysmorphia,” primarily targets boys who wish to gain a belt notch or two and turn their slender bodies into a buffer physique. Most people in the U.S. are trying to lose weight, so I felt that maybe shedding light on the opposite side of the spectrum would reveal that life is not always better on the flip side. Bigorexia is the polar opposite of anorexia but still affects the person in the same manner with an unhealthy eating disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder and a body image disorder.
Even though this does affect both men and women, the majority of the cases are men.
