Mr. G, the first and only teacher for four years, at the Harvey Milk School in Manhattan, has died of liver cancer at his home in Jersey City. Mr. Freddy Goldhaber was 63 years old. The Harvey Milk School was the first school in the country to provide a safe haven for GLBT students. Mr. Goldhaber had lived with AIDS for about thirty years, his brother Richard said. Mr. Goldhaber was loved and idolized by his students, many of who would not have graduated if it weren’t for his dedication to their future and success.
