Long time Women's and LGBT activist Ann Baker of Roosevelt, NJ

Ann Baker, a long time social justice activist living in Roosevelt, New Jersey, died at the University Medical Center of Princeton on August 25. Born and raised in Salem, Ohio, Ann spent some years in the Sisters of the Humility of Mary congregation and spent some years teaching history in Ohio and New York.

She was an advocate for women’s rights, reproductive rights, LGBT rights, social justice, a staunch democrat and political activist over the entire course of her life.

Ann and her life partner Carol Watchler have supported each other’s activism over 43 years together. Ann and Carol rejoiced at the chance to be legally married in July of 2013. Ann was the daughter of Hugh Lynch Baker and Almira Susanna Baker of Salem, Ohio, now deceased. In addition to her loving partner Carol, she is survived by a cousin, Dorothy Doan, of Warren, Ohio.
