NY Gov Signs Law Protecting Students

David Patterson signs DASA

As a legally blind student attending school in Long Island, Gov. David Patterson recounted his experience of reaching the limits of his frustration when one day in class he used his metal lunch box as a weapon against a fellow student, smashing it into the student’s face. Although his action resulted in his suspension from school and chiding from his parents, felt a sense of satisfaction at being able to retaliate against at least one student who tormented him because he is different.
