Small town kicks off Gay Pride events
New Hope’s 6th annual gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered and allied (GLBTA) weekend celebration are being finalized. It will be from May 15th to 17th and will feature entertainment by the hyper and irreverent comedian Ant, dance parties with top DJs, cabaret performance, softball tournaments, bike rides, historic walking tours and family activities. A pride parade welcomes such notables as the Lesbian and Gay Big Apple Corp Marching Band, Liberty Gay Rodeo Association, Flyboys of Flag Troupe Houston and Pennsylvania Congressman Patrick Murphy. Various fundraising socials and networking opportunities take place in the days leading up to the festival. New Hope Celebrates (NHC), a community-focused GLBTA tourism marketing organization, is the organizer.
“Though we’re still in the planning stages on a number of key events, I can share that a goal of this year’s celebration is to encourage GLBT parents to bring their kids and experience all that New Hope has to offer,” explains Daniel Brooks, NHC President.
