EDGE New Jersey will hold Morris County’s largest Pride event on June 27 at the County College of Morris in Randolph to raise funds to support the free services EDGE provides. Out In Jersey is a media sponsor and will be at the event.
The Morris County Pride Festival is a free, family-friendly celebration, which will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., according to a news release from EDGE. The Parsippany-based organization, whose acronym stands for “End Discrimination. Gain Equality,” serves “the HIV+ and LGBTQ+ communities through public health strategies, supportive services, housing opportunities, behavioral healthcare, and education,” according to its website.
“While New Jersey continues to protect access to gender-affirming care and reproductive health services in our state, our community still faces challenges in accessing care,” Joann McEniry, the organization’s chief executive officer, said in the release. “Every dollar raised helps ensure our community can access the support they need.”
This year’s theme is PRISM and reflects the full spectrum of LGBTQ+ identities and experiences, the release said.
Live entertainment will be hosted by drag queen Scarlet Envy, who gained notoriety from her appearance on RuPaul’s Drag Race. There will also be a food court, bar, a Family Fun Zone sponsored by Atlantic Health with activities such as drag bingo hosted by drag queen Cookie Doe, and a market with more than 75 local vendors and crafters, according to the release.
