PrettyHurtsIf you took “Nip/Tuck” and turned it onto it’s well pinned-back ear, you would have LOGO’s new docu-series”Pretty Hurts”. The show follows Rand Rusher R. N., who finds his office flooded with the beauty obsessed, those who want a little filling in and of course,  the requisite celebrity. Rand specializes in trendy & non surgical procedures to help his clients feel as “fresh” as possible.

LOGO (along with Bravo) has cornered the market on sprinkling their new shows with surprise celebrity cameos. In the first several episodes alone, “Ru Paul’s Drag Race” alumni runner-up Raven, and former “Real Housewife Of Orange County” Jeana Keough take a seat in the chair for some touching up. Plastic surgery veteran Janice Dickinson also gives docu-series gold, showing exactly some of the work that she is proud to admit she’s had. Lastly, at a function after-hours, Oscar nominee and “Desperate Housewives” star Felicity Huffman makes a cameo appearance.

Rand would not be able to perform his magic without his loyal office staff. Curt, his former partner in life and now his partner in business (although the lines appear somewhat blurred at times). His aesthetician Maya, office manager Elizabeth, and Laser Specialist R. N. Joy round out the office staff.

The injection scenes, while very brief, may not be for the faint of heart, but the ongoing stories in and out of the office is what the show is truly about. “Pretty Hurts” is not just about the search for physical perfection, but gives you a glimpse into the world of the people who help make others feel a little bit better about themselves on a daily basis. “Pretty” indeed.
