On a sunny Saturday afternoon in April, half a dozen gay and lesbian students from Drew University spent three hours repeatedly kneeing a man in the crotch. The man had on plenty of padding (six inches of foam, he said) so it didn’t hurt him, though he still pretended to buckle over and fall to the floor a few times.
It was all part of a program sponsored by Prepare, a New York-based company that teaches self-defense to women, men, teens, and children.
