More than ten years ago on October 12, 1998, Matthew Shepard, a gay man from Wyoming, took his last breath. Matthew was tied to a fence and tortured because of his sexual orientation. In March, Matthew’s mother, Judy Shepard, spoke at Drew University.
Cindy Sherman, the Advisor to the Gay Straight Alliance of Bloomfield High School, found the video and lecture to be “very compelling. I was actually measuring its impact through my [students]. The kids could really put names and faces to the event… They were quite saddened.”
