I am a proud New Jersey resident in the 2008 Soulforce Q Equality Ride. The Equality Ride is an incredible journey that takes 18 young adults to 15 faith-based universities in order to engage students, faculty, and administration in a loving dialogue about faith, sexuality, and gender.
We hope our presence on these campuses can challenge misinformation and untruth about the LGBT community, provide safety and comfort to LGBT students who are often given messages of condemnation instead of love and acceptance, and begin a conversation that can change the hearts and minds of tomorrow’s Christian leaders.
After my father came out of the closet when I was in fourth grade, I heard all too clearly the denunciations of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals that streamed from the pulpit.
