In Review: Inside the Hollywood Closet: A Book of Quotes
Bose Hadleigh has done it again! Hadleigh has a degree in Journalism and sometimes applies it to interviews, but by far more tasty and interesting are the rumor-ous collections such as this latest exploration of quotes from and about LGBTQ folx and allies.
While some of the quotes originally appeared in Hadleigh’s 2000 book In or Out, some conversation starters and bon mots are perfect for the outdoor cocktail parties and beach dates to come. After all, by midsummer, most of us will have at least had the opportunity to receive a vaccine and start to move more freely around our environment.
As we encounter new friends we may be dropping a Drew Barrymore quote on Rock Hudson’s ability to act straight in dozens of films or every Gen Jones lesbian crush Elizabeth Montgomery opinioning on Johnny Mathis’ coming out during the Reagan era can start some interesting conversations.
Not all of the quotations are light—some will get you thinking. The one that remains with me is Anais Nin’s “The only abnormality is the incapacity to love.” Get your beach chair ready and your summer reading out of the closet.
