Increase In New HIV Infections on the Rise

"New HIV infections are increasing among homosexuals, drug users and prostitutes who don’t seek help because of laws that criminalize these practices," says Michael Sidibe, the head of UNAIDS. He said that the increase “is unacceptable.”  There are still 85 countries that criminalize same sex practices, and seven countries that impose the death penalty, which are Iran, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, United Arab Emirates, Sudan, Nigeria, and Mauritania.
