ChrisBrownBennyB“If you feel it, let it happen; keep on dancin’ til the world ends”- Britney Spears.

While the public has been extremely interested in Chris Brown’s non-music antics, he has been busy making amazing music for the dance floors. While previously, he was strictly working in the R&B/pop genre, he entered the dance charts this year with mixes of his track “Yeah 3X” (with a standout mix from Riddler). His latest track is with dance legend Benny Benassi, titled “Beautiful People”. The standout of the remix package is the “Disco Fries Electro Remix”. While the vocals are slightly too auto-tuned for my liking, the track is classic Benassi, with hypnotic verses, building to a lush chorus.

Rihanna

Rihanna is back

Britney Spears continues her ride back up with her new album, “Femme Fatale”. Billboard magazine has reviewed the album as “possibly Britney’s best album”, and with good reason. The first single “Hold It Against Me” slammed into clubs several weeks back with a huge response. The lyrics are standard “Britney”, chock full of double entendre and autotune, which is exactly what makes the track such an immediate dancefloor hit. The next track is titled “Til The World Ends”, which I hear will have a 21 (yes twenty one!) track remix pack. The standout from the mixes I have heard so far is from Jump Smokers, which take an already bass-heavy dance track, and give it a great extended buildup and chorus, one of the best I’ve heard them do yet.

Rihanna’s “Rated R” album gave us great tracks and amazing remixes (the “Chew Fu Teacher’s Pet Remix” of Rockstar 101 is worth the price of the Remix album alone). Rihanna is back with a much brighter album, “Loud” Containing such tracks as the one with R&B sensation Drake, “What’s My Name” and the “Eddie Baez Anthem Mix” of her latest track “S&M” definitely makes that track a standout from the pack. The latest remix to hit is an unreleased gem by international duo Freemasons (who gave us a legendary mix of Whitney Houston’s “Million Dollar Bill” last year). They’ve taken the first track from “Loud”, “Only Girl In The World” and, while cranking up the BPM only slightly, they’ve put a brand new spin on a track that had been remixed to death. The chorus doesn’t hit until 3:45, but it’s worth the wait.

As I finished up this week’s column, a new track hit radio combining the talents of two artists listed here. Rihanna’s already risque track “S&M” gets the remix treatment with help from none other than pop princess Britney Spears. Now since a good portion of Britney’s career has been spent in various states of undress, this is a perfect track for her to lend her vocals to. While the third artist on this mix should be credited to “autotune”, Ms. Spears rarely duets with other female artists (save her Madonna “Me Against the Music” track”) so this track is destined for some interesting remixes to lead us up to Memorial Day.
