Elizabeth Schedl has been at HPC for six years 

The Board of Directors of Hudson Pride Center announced they have appointed long time staff member Elizabeth Schedl as the organization’s new Executive Director. Schedl was the Chief Operations Officer at the Jersey City based organization previously.

“Elizabeth has been a shining star and along with her team has proven their commitment and love for the work they do for the LGBTQ+ community here in Hudson County and beyond,” said Obsetee Korme, Board Chair for the Hudson Pride Center. “I have watched Elizabeth grow over the past few years and watching her evolve into a strong and determined leader has been an honor. I have no doubt this evolution will lead the Center to new heights.”

Schedl is a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University with her M.A. in International Studies and B.A. in Criminal Justice. Before serving as the Chief Operations Officer, she served as the Deputy Director as well as Community Relations Director over the six years she has been with the organization. She has helped to drive transformational change resulting in the Center’s operational sustainability and growth and is currently working closely with the Board of Directors on a revamped comprehensive strategic plan to expand the Center and its development opportunities.

Schedl will continue to oversee everyday operations of the Hudson County based organization said a press release. Since the Global health crisis of COVID-19, the Center has moved to remote and virtual operations and continues to connect with the LGBTQ community untilin-person socialization is available.

“Working for Hudson Pride has been my pleasure. I have had the honor of helping this agency grow and expand, taking on new programs and partnerships to further support the LGBTQ+ community and those most at risk within it,” said Schedl. “It is a joy to be part of this team and to collaborate with so many agencies and individuals that support us. Our staff and board are working towards some significant changes for our center that will further enhance the growth of our services and ability to connect with individuals, while also securing our center’s future for the years to come.”

The Hudson Pride Center was founded in 1993 by a group of LGBT activists during the AIDS epidemic. Hudson Pride Center is a voice for the LGBTQ population of New Jersey offering HIV outreach and linkage to care, PrEP and transgender affirming counseling, crisis intervention counseling, mental health care coordination and social support groups.
