Having a partner is definitely the biggest jackpot, but check out her gambling options

Heidi Haux is fast emerging as one of the queens to keep an eye on in New York City. Not only is she hosting her own shows in New York City, but you can catch her and a gaggle of other dolls at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa this coming weekend for Pride Bingo.

As she prepares to make her Borgata debut, I caught up with this hardworking gal to talk about the biggest gamble she has taken in her career—and how it paid off—and what it has been like crafting her own drag completion show in New York City.

What would you consider your best casino game?

Heidi Haux: Normally I like a slot machine that sings to me: Dolly, Elvis, Madonna; but there’s this slot machine called Heidi’s Bier Haus that for some reason, I always get lucky at!

What do you consider the biggest gamble you have ever taken in your career?

HH: My biggest gamble was helping launch a new drag competition in New York City last year called Iconic. I was hired as the host by two amazing producers, yet none of us had been behind something as large as a full ensemble long-form competition before. There are so many queens in the world right now and so many more opinions about queens. I was hesitant to feel even worthy enough to host a competition full of new hopefuls, but it has turned out to be an immense success, and all the new queens that cycle through continue to inspire and remind me of why I love drag.

The queen is one of the most popular cards in the deck; tell me, what makes a phenomenal queen?

HH: Oh, that’s easy: her heart! And her Diamonds and her Clubs. And of course, Shade! That’s the fourth one, right? LOL.

In life, what is the biggest “jackpot” you have won, personal or career-wise?

HH: My biggest and luckiest break is 100% my fiancé and love Scott Curley. Little did I know when we met, he would end up being the most kind, supportive, and artistically inspiring partner. And the “payout” only gets more and more rewarding as time goes on.

Everyone has their “Ace” in their performance arsenal; what do you consider your ace that truly sets you apart from the rest?

HH: I’ve always led with my personality and my heart, and that’s opened tremendous doors for me. But my truest “Ace” has to be my partner Scott. When I’m too overwhelmed to do it myself, he sews, does hair, choreographs, dances, and is a creative force himself. My arsenal can stand on its own, but when my back is against the wall, I will always have him up my sleeve to help me show up and show OUT!
