Having a personal connection is how Jeffrey Wilguz picks his tracks

When an artist puts together ideas for a new CD of cover tunes and song standards, the list quickly becomes staggering to say the least. Singer Jeffrey Wilgus ran into this very problem when tackling the task that soon became his most recent album, Signature. Wilgus started out by asking friends and fans what songs they would like to hear. When it came down to decision time, he realized that he would have to have a personal connection to any song he included in order to perform it. Wilgus tells Out In Jersey that for each of the twelve tracks on Signature, he has a personal story. Among his twelve song choices are two written by Boy George, “Summer, Highland Falls” by Billy Joel and the Stephen Schwartz classic “Corner of the Sky” from Pippin.
