Packed meeting at Rutgers calls for anti-bullying measures.
It opened with a violin tribute to the late Tyler Clementi (himself a violin virtuoso) followed by a speech by comedian Judy Gold. Ms. Gold was definitely not being amusing. In fact, she couldn’t have been more serious as she expressed the anger and frustration felt by most of the audience and the LGBT community in general that, after all of our years of work and struggle, kids are still being driven to suicide by homophobic bullying and abuse – often under the very eyes of teachers and school administrators who look the other way.
