True Colors, Carried On Pride Gathering on Grief and Legacy at Pet Shop in Jersey City
Wednesday, August 19 – 6:30PM – 8:30PM
Pet Shop, 193 Newark Ave., Jersey City, NJ
Show Your True Colors—Now More Than Ever.
This Jersey City Pride Month, join in for True Colors, Carried On, an official Jersey City Pride Month event that creates space for something often left out of Pride: grief, remembrance, and the people we carry with us.
While Pride is a celebration of love, authenticity, and resilience, it is also rooted in the lives and legacies of those who came before us. This unique evening invites LGBTQIA+ community members and allies to gather for meaningful conversations about loss, mortality, and the connections that continue long after someone is gone.
During the evening you’ll experience:
Small-group facilitated conversations
Guided reflection prompts
A Legacy Corner where you can honor someone you carry in your heart by bringing a photo or keepsake—or create a tribute using materials provided.
A full food and beverage menu will be available for purchase throughout the evening.
Whether you’re grieving someone you’ve lost, facing anticipatory grief, reflecting on your own legacy, or simply looking for deeper community, you’ll be welcomed exactly as you are.
Hosted by Melanie of Life and Soul, whose work creates compassionate spaces for honest conversations about death, grief, and end-of-life planning.
Tickets are available now. If cost is a barrier, please contact melanie@thelifeandsoul.co to inquire about discounted community-supported tickets.
Come in your true colors. Honor those you’ve loved. Leave feeling a little less alone.
