The 6th Annual Transgender Day of Remembrance at First Lutheran Church in Montclair
Sunday, November 20, 2022 – 5:00PM to 6:30PM
The Montclair Interfaith Clergy Association will host The 6th Annual Transgender Day of Remembrance.
The service is meant to raise public awareness, mourn and honor the lives of transgender and gender-non-conforming people and to express love and respect in the face of national indifference and hatred.
The Transgender Day of Remembrance, which was started in 1999 by transgender advocate Gwendolyn Ann Smith as a vigil to honor the memory of Rita Hester, a transgender woman who was killed in 1998, is set to memorialize those who were killed due to anti-transgender hatred or prejudice.
