1st ever LGBT Pride Outdoor Event concludes with a Community Unity Rainbow “Color Toss”
Roselle Park kicks off the “Pride Season” with it’s first ever “Celebration of Colors” LGBT Pride Event for Everyone to celebrate family, equality, diversity, and community.
On Sunday May 19th, the kick off begins at 5pm ending at dusk with a free outdoor movie Hairspray – the 1988 classic John Waters film, all at Herm Shaw Field 214 West Colfax Avenue, Roselle Park.
“Our event promises to be a pre-pride season warm-up to the larger regional events throughout the summer, said Roselle Park Councilman Joe DeIorio. “But we believe a little pride goes a long way.” In 2018, Roselle Park Councilmen Joe DeIorio and Thos Shipley became the first openly gay married couple in New Jersey history to serve together as local elected representatives.
Roselle Park is proud to announce honored guest speaker, Jane Clementi, Co-Founder of the Tyler Clementi Foundation at 5:30pm Afterwards special recognitions will include Roselle Mayor Christine Dansereau, Former Roselle Park Councilman Thos Shipley, the Roselle Park High School Gay Straight Alliance, the Union County Office of LGBTQ Affairs and WellCare Health Plans Inc.
Attendees will enjoy musical performances, entertainment, education stations from LGBT and Community organizations, food, inflatables and games for all ages.
“We are excited to host a “Celebration of Color,”in Roselle Park, said Community Center Director and event organizer, Rupen Shah. We welcome everyone to bring their lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy an afternoon of food and fun for everyone.”
