Queer Women in Music
A new venture called Double Feature Sundays is where they showcase two queer artists from anywhere to serenade us on Facebook live. As artists continue to struggle with canceled gigs in the community music enthusiasts continue to miss going out and seeing them. Queer Women in Music is dedicated to support these artists and provide them a platform.
On August 9th: In order of appearance-
5:00pm-The Off-White Betties! – Jean Stewart and her partner Lisa Robertson are currently living in the Orlando, FL area. Originally from New Jersey and Virginia respectively, they began playing together in the 90s in Atlanta GA. They performed together with various lineups of other musicians throughout the Southeast. They moved to Florida about five years ago and established themselves as a Duo. Before this pandemic, they were performing throughout Central Florida.
5:45pm: The JerZgirls-are an energetic funny & talented power duo based in Hunterdon/Warren County NJ. They met in 2008, joined forces with The local cover band MoRock. In 2009 they left and The JerZgirls were born. Lisamarie on keys and vocals, Maire on vocals and percussion. During the span of the 30 years that followed, they played with many original & cover bands. They play all genres of music from Janis Joplin, classic Disco to today’s Top Pop, with some Originals by Lisamarie such as “The Yellow Butterfly and Angel Wings.” The soulful harmonies of Lisamarie coupled with Maires raspy voice, mixed in with some humor, will definitely hook you in after your 1st Jerzgirls show. Lisamarie says, “We love what we do and love to make people happy with this gift.”
