When all the other kids in Port Chester, New York went outside to play after school, young Anthony Valbiro raced to his basement rec room… to grab a microphone, turn on the reel-to-reel and croon his heart out. In this film, based on an autobiographical one-man play of the same name, Anthony draws us into the “quest for fame” that was his 1960’s childhood. Along the way, we ponder questions about how the people who raise us shape us, what constitutes “success,” and at what cost do we pursue our deepest dreams.

QFest New Jersey LGBTQ Film and Digital Media Festival strives to support and promote LGBTQ film & digital media, the individuals who create it, and the people and stories they highlight. Festival submissions must have content about or connection to the LGBTQ community with preference given to unreleased work, work by New Jersey residents, and work that exemplifies artistic expression (in multiple forms), education or inclusion.
QFest, the original annual LGBTQ film & digital media festival in NJ, is produced by QSpot, one of New Jersey’s largest LGBTQ community centers. Entry categories are Feature Film, Feature Short Film, Feature Documentary, Feature Short Documentary, Music Video, Student Film, Student Short Film, and Micro Videos.
