Pride Clothing Swap at Silver Bay Harbor Association in Toms River

Looking for a unique and rewarding way to celebrate Pride month? Come to a free clothing swap at 7 p.m. Friday, June 25, by the beach in the Silverton section of Toms River.

This no-cost, the pop-up boutique event is OPEN TO EVERYONE and offers community members and allies a chance to give their once-cherished garments a new life while trying out and trying on new styles.

Have you ever wanted to try out a new type of clothing but felt uncertain spending money on something that is new to you? Here is your chance to try new things in a safe and cost-free environment.

Kean University education major Cassie Provinzano, 21, of Toms River, conceived the idea because she has “always been interested in fashion and events that bring people together without involving money.”

“Recently, I was thinking about Pride and realized that a clothing swap would be a perfect event to invite those who are interested in exploring gender-affirming clothing in a safe space without needing to spend money to do so.”

Provinzano, who said “being part of the queer community has always been an important part of my life,” has opened the one-hour event to all people and hopes there will be widespread participation.

Along with being a great way to give clothes a second life, this free event is a groovy way to make fashion more sustainable.

Clothing donations are not required but are greatly encouraged to bring in items you no longer use. The greater variety of sizes and styles we have, the more people we will be able to benefit from. Anything from your wardrobe might be exactly what someone else is looking for.

All ages and genders are welcome. Let’s try new things and find cool pieces as we all SWAP TIL WE DROP.

The swap will take place from 7 to 8 p.m. at 34 Sea Breeze Road at the Silver Bay Harbor Association in the Silverton section of Toms River. Please bring a bag for any clothes you might want to take home!
