Full of thought-provoking race and class relations, Elton John & Tim Rice’s Aida provides a modern retelling of Shakespeare’s tale of star cross’d lovers. The Ritz Theatre has never failed to astound me with its assortment of courteous and attentive staff, and Aida was no different. The opening number Every Story Is A Love Story, sung by the beautiful vocal powerhouse
Tracey Gaffney (Amneris), started slow and mysterious only to suddenly blast the audience back into their seats. Marc G. Dalio, the Actors’ Equity Association actor touted as the big star of the production, played a perfect Radames, complete with the posturing and vocal capabilities of this leading role.
