Pissi Myles stars in a new YouTube video
The past few months, several stories about drag queen story times have gone viral across social media platforms. However, not every drag queen is family friendly. In her new short film, Story Time with Pissi, drag performer Pissi Myles proves she’s a brilliant entertainer. That is, unless her audience is filled with young children and their scandalized parents. Then she’s a total disaster.
Myles faces that very challenge as she finds herself accidently booked for a gig at a daycare center. The New Jersey based and snarky drag queen collaborated with comedy writer Topher Cusumano, director Keith Pyatt, and executive producer David Ayllon on the seven minute video on YouTube. It parodies viral drag story hour documentaries. Comedian Sam Reese (Comedy Central, MTV, CollegeHumor) co-stars as the enthusiastic child care worker who finds herself in over her head.
Myles is no stranger to being in front of the camera, with the viral success of her music videos “Monster Mash-Up” with Nate Walker and Babashook. However, Story Time with Pissi marks Myles’ first foray into scripted content.
When asked what makes this video special, Myles said, “It feels so good to be able to work on a project that’s so structured and theatrical! I love that I get to work on something that’s tightly scripted, so the jokes aren’t spontaneous — they’re intentional, and well thought-out, and I’m really proud of that. I want to do more work like that!”
