Diversity Weekend at Gables of Cape May offers “Bait & Swish”


Poppy ChamplinGABLES of Cape May County will sponsor the 7th Annual Diversity Weekend with “Bait & Swish: Punchline & Sinker,” a night of LGBT comedy and illusion from America’s most “Out There” performers. The show includes comedienne Poppy Champlin and is on Saturday April 5, 2014at Marq’s Pub, at the Marquis de Lafayette Hotel, 501 Beach Avenue, in Cape May, NJ.

Bait and Swish 2014 posterJames Rana, who has been seen on stage in Cape May with East Lynne Theater Company, will host the two-hour show. Comedienne Poppy Champlin returns with her LGBT-friendly humor. In addition to her Showtime special, “Pride,” Champlin has been seen on “The Joan Rivers Show,” “Oprah” and “Entertainment Tonight”. She has opened for Dennis Leary, Rosie O’Donnell and Bill Maher. Magician Matt Cadabra has appeared on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” and has performed his water torture cell escape at “Ripley’s Believe It or Not” and at the Tropicana Casino in Atlantic City. Also starring in “Bait & Swish: Punchline & Sinker” will be comic Rich Kiamco. Rich has appeared on the “Howard Stern Show” and “Good Day NY.” Comic Mimi Gonzalez returns for the third time in seven years. Concluding the evening’s lineup will be comic Jessica Kirson from NBC’s “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.”

Doors open at 7:30 pm Showtime is at 8 pm. Light complimentary snacks will be served. There will be a cash bar. Admission is $30 with limited ticket sales available at the door. It is suggested that you purchase your tickets early online as last year was nearly sold out.

The Marquis de Lafayette Hotel is offering a Diversity Weekend package of $99 per night with breakfast included for attendees of the show.
