Corzine nominates homophobic judge

TRENTON – Governor Jon Corzine has produced vocal outrage among some LGBT activists. He has nominated Palisades Interstate Park municipal Judge Steven Zaben to a position as a worker’s compensation judge. Zaben has been widely criticized for bias against gay men since 2005. The new judicial appointment is a promotion. Zaben’s homophobic comments and complicity in an on-going sting operation to entrap gay men in Palisades Interstate Park was brought to the attention of the community by Attorney David Morris, Chair of the Legal Committee of the New Jersey Lesbian and Gay Coalition (NJLGC.) in 2005. He and Lambda Legal Defense received many calls from men who had been in Judge Zaben’s Courtroom.
