Changes to ADDP may cause devastating impact on many living with HIV/AIDS

Governor Christie has proposed changes to the Hyacinth Foundations AIDS Drug Distribution Program (ADDP), which could affect thousands of persons living with HIV/AIDS. These changes would have persons who are currently eligible for the ADDP, become ineligible. Currently the annual income of a recipient must not exceed 500 percent of the federal poverty level, Christie has proposed for a reduction to 300 percent as the upper limit.

This change could knock many people off of the program roles. Christie’s proposal would require new co-payments of more than $25.00 per prescription.
