Lesbian and gay seniors face discrimination while searching for housing in adult communities and senior assisted living facilities in New Jersey according to a new study. "Opening Doors: An Investigation of Barriers to Senior Housing for Same-Sex Couples," found that in 40% of tested cases LGBT persons say they were treated less favorably than their heterosexual peers in senior living accommodations.

Gay social app MISTER and a new testing app called Hula have become partners to encourage men to be tested for HIV. It started with a network- wide blast showing local testing centers and encouraging MISTER users to learn their HIV status. Both companies are working on a longer term agreement that would work to better educate mobile app users about HIV transmission.
El' Jai Devoureau, a transgender man in Southern New Jersey who alleged he was barred from working in a male- only job in a Camden New Jersey drug treatment facility has settled his suit. He says in June 2010, Camden Treatment Associates, LLC hired him as a urine monitor for men. His job responsibilities included monitoring male outpatients as they provided urine samples for drug testing.
A new report on LGBT equality in America's cities was just released and New Jersey did well. But Jersey City was the only perfect score in the state at 100 points. Asbury Park scored 59 points, Lambertville scored 76 points, New Brunswick scored 77 points, Newark scored 76 points, Ocean Grove scored 77 points, Paterson scored 60 points, and Trenton scored 57 points. The average score for cities in New Jersey is 70 out of 100 points, which falls well above the national average.
